11035NAT Specialist Body Piercing Course
This course combines 3 qualifications/nationally recognized codes:
- HLTINF005 Maintain Infection Control Standards
- NAT11035001 Advise on specialist body piercings.
- NAT11035002 Provide specialist body piercings.
This course runs for 4 days in person, plus online work.
PROFESSIONAL
SHBBSKS008 Provide Upper Body Piercings
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to provide upper body piercing services. It requires the ability to consult with clients, select tool and jewelry to safely the facial piercings, ear cartilage and navel. Upper body piercing service can be provided for a single or multiple area piercings.
This unit is ideal for any person wanting to perform body piercing from a licensed venue.
3 full days of face to face in a classroom and clinical environment, plus online theory at your own pace.
Pre-requisite:
SHBBINF002 Maintain Infection Control Standards (see below).

SHBBINF002 Maintain Infection Control Standards
You will learn the skills and knowledge required to maintain infection prevention infection control during skin penetration treatments and to review clinic compliance with the applicable state or territory and local council requirements. It requires the ability to identify, manage and control infection risks to clients, self, and work colleagues. The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice.
This unit is accepted by the Department of Health for the beauty industry and is part of the Diploma of Beauty training package and as a pre-requisite for Cosmetic Tattoo Courses. This unit applies to beauty therapists who work in beauty therapy salons, clinics or cosmetic medical clinics. These therapists work autonomously and make decisions.
PROFESSIONAL
HLTINF005 Maintain Infection Prevention for Skin Penetration.
You will learn the skills and knowledge required to maintain infection prevention during skin penetration treatments such as body piercing and tattooing with the applicable state or territory and local council requirements. It requires the ability to identify, manage and control infection risks to clients, self, and work colleagues. This course applies to individuals who make independent treatment decisions in the body art industries.
This unit is accepted by the Department of Health for skin penetration industries and is ideal for Tattooists, Dentist, Cosmetic Tattooists and Body Piercers.
This unit is completed by self-paced work online. The nominal hours for the course are 75hrs
